Founded in 2024, Promissory operates from San Diego, CA and Carson City, NV. Our founding team previously built and scaled Trust & Will, the leading online estate planning platform, to millions of users nationwide. As founders, we experienced firsthand the need for an affordable, streamlined solution to help maximize our exit. When we couldn't find an accessible process for QSBS stacking, we created Promissory—combining legal and fintech expertise with our passion for empowering founders, employees, and investors to avoid pitfalls and optimize the value of their work.

Brian Lamb

Co-founder, CEO

Brian is a serial entrepreneur. Before Promissory, he co-founded Trust & Will, where he led strategy, product, design, and engineering, scaling the platform to over 1M users and $30M+ in annual revenue. Brian lives in San Diego with his wife and daughter.

Eric Urhausen

Co-founder, CTO

Eric is an accomplished engineering leader with decades of startup experience. Before Promissory, he led engineering at Trust & Will, scaling the team from 2 to 40+ engineers while implementing compliance standards and best practices across the organization.

Patrick Hicks

Legal Advisor

Patrick is an experienced legal tech leader who has overseen legal teams at multiple tech companies. Building on his background as a transactional and estate planning attorney, he drives the development of innovative and compliant legal solutions.

Frank Barros

A.I. Engineer

Frank is a seasoned full-stack developer with AI expertise. After 5 years at Trust & Will architecting core features, he expanded his skills across multiple startups. Frank contributes to Promissory part-time while pursuing other innovative projects in AI and fintech.
